List processes using a file. This is useful for knowing what processes to kill, and to tell when something else is done writing: for example, you might have some process that creates files in the background, and you need a different process to do something to those files. Obviously you need to wait until the first process is complete - fuser can help with that.
Some versions of fuser have more options than others; check your man page.
lsof is often a better choice.
