Many of these articles contain scripts. If you don't know how to create and use scripts, see Basic Scripting
WARNING: Scripts, especially when run as root, can be dangerous if misused. Be sure you understand what the scripts do and how they do it. If you do NOT fully understand, seek professional help. |
Warning: some of what follows was written for myself, and could easily be full of awful bugs. Some of these are very old, and are not needed any more.
Still, these are things I or someone else wrote and actually found useful. If you are still running older versions of SCO or Dos, you might find these useful too, and even if not, you might get some ideas. Some of this should easily adapt to Linux or any Unix, some of it won't. Some of it is for Linux, so then it's the other way around.
I'm a hack programmer: I can do it, but I'm not really *good* at it. For example, Perl folk say "There's More Than One Way To Do It", but I think if Larry Wall looked at my Perl code he'd add, "but that's not the way..".
But that's not the point, either. The point is to share ideas and concepts. If something here helps you understand how to do something you need to do, that is the point, and the whole purpose.
