X-face image generation

2005/06/25

What's this:

X-Face: #,W}OiA++@;47oZ^T^e^o,ZAopMybIP%Q/,)^le8Cy,u]YRgo1bw3]P*H@BgNtbK-
&K2l#u !MD*y<z!z_Y0:|V~"Bmk&(j3A1H0H@85xL)gI3!3pvs8Dk2!PX=HVvX
,&:eG)i`U+Ihbo4nNX4Ns68 5mG1:U(]qfV)F8Fz=(eH@#ydv]8mXl=,\s6-[y2rzl~

It's me.

Well, a grainy and highly compressed bit image of my face actually. If I stuck that header into my ordinary email or news postings, you might (depending upon what you use to read mail and news) be able to see this:

X-Face image

Pretty bad, isn't it? I'm sure I could do better, but I have some difficulty imagining why you'd want to do this at all. Never mind, I'm a grumpy old curmudgeon. If people want to do this, fine by me. There are even color versions of these things.

If you want to generate your own Face header, see

If you want face support in Thunderbird you can check out MessageFaces

http://tecwizards.de/mozilla/messagefaces/

It does not do x-faces, but does support the newer "Face:" standard.

Many of the products and books I review are things I purchased for my own use. Some were given to me specifically for the purpose of reviewing them. I resell or can earn commissions from the sale of some of these items. Links within these pages may be affiliate links that pay me for referring you to them. That's mostly insignificant amounts of money; whenever it is not I have made my relationship plain. I also may own stock in companies mentioned here. If you have any question, please do feel free to contact me.

Specific links that take you to pages that allow you to purchase the item I reviewed are very likely to pay me a commission. Many of the books I review were given to me by the publishers specifically for the purpose of writing a review. These gifts and referral fees do not affect my opinions; I often give bad reviews anyway.
