This article is from a FAQ concerning SCO operating systems. While some of the information may be applicable to any OS, or any Unix or Linux OS, it may be specific to SCO Xenix, Open Desktop or Openserver.

There is lots of Linux, Mac OS X and general Unix info elsewhere on this site: Search this site is the best way to find anything.

OSR5 FAQ

How can I find my Activation Key?

On modern releases, look in /var/adm/ISL/iqm_file.

If you registered with SCO, they can give you your license information for a small fee.

Allan Clark supplied this:

The SCO Serial Number and Activation Key (SNAK) actually has three parts:

Serial Number
Activation Key
License Data (optional)

On OpenServer:
SN: grep IQM_SERIAL_NUMBER /var/adm/ISL/iqm_file
AK: grep IQM_ACTIVATION_KEY /var/adm/ISL/iqm_file
LD: grep ANNOTATION_LINE /var/adm/ISL/iqm_file

Now, SCO has more than just OpenServer, and I don't know which you have. Here's the UnixWare equiv:

SN: grep SerialID /var/adm/isl/ifile
AK: grep ActKey /usr/vam/isl/ifile
LD: grep LicenseData /var/adm/isl/ifile
