A new worm called Win32.Nynex.e is spreading on the Internet that could make
life difficult on February 3rd. That is when the file-corrupting payload
embedded in it, is set to go off for the first time. This worm spreads via the
Internet as an attachment to infected messages and via open network resources.
It sends itself to email addresses harvested from the victim computer. The
worm itself is a PE EXE file written in Visual Basic, packed using UPX.
The packed file is roughly 95KB in size and the unpacked file is 176KB.
Anti-virus vendors are also refering to this worm as W32.Blackmal-E@mm,
WORM_GREW-A and W32/Nyxem-D.
To best protect yourself from this worm is to make sure that your current
anti-virus software is current and has the latest definition packages. Also
it is a good idea to avoid e-mails that promise "Hot Movie" or "The Best
Video Clip Ever".
